SUSHI is on the Pamlico Sound at the end of a private road in northern Buxton. Over 15 acres of pristine maritime forest and wetlands lie between this home and the Atlantic Ocean. This unique location offers those amazing ocean sunrises and sound sunsets that have helped make Outer Banks vacations famous, with the added bonus of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse in full view to the south. SUSHI offers peace & quiet, no traffic noise, and a place where kids can safely explore the Outer Banks habitat. SUSHI is equally well-suited and equipped for corporate retreats, with modern audio/video and computer systems, and large custom seating areas in the Library, Great Room, Dining Area, and Game Room. For watersports, SUSHI is one of the closest homes to the Canadian Hole, where colorful windsurfers and kite boarders put on a great show just a few hundred yards to the north. Surfers and surf fishermen will appreciate the convenience of having The Point beaches only 5 minutes away, and the inshore/offshore guys have their choice of Hatteras and Oregon Inlets to fish from. Scuba divers can check out the many offshore wrecks of the Graveyard of The Atlantic, including WWII German submarines and their victims, via one of the dive outfits out of Hatteras Inlet. Guests come aboard SUSHI through its massive Ironwood front door. This 4-inch thick, 4-foot wide, master of the home is constructed from solid Ironwood, glass blocks, and a huge pair of brass boat cleats that serve as door handles. Many of the glass blocks are filled with Buxton beach sand, seashells, fishing lures, and other maritime memories. A few steps up from the door and you're on the first floor of the main house, which sports a well-stocked Library with a 180-year old early-American library table and window seat, business office with custom tiger maple desk, Dell 2.4GHz PC with high speed wireless cable internet, HP color printer, color copier, and fax with dedicated phone line, a private gym overlooking the sound and ocean, a bedroom with two XL twin beds and solid teak furniture, a full bath, and soundfront & oceanview decks with custom 2-person Ironwood hammock. The second floor of the main house offers 2 private master suites with soundfront & oceanview decks, an 8-person hot tub with shoulder & foot jets overlooking the sound & ocean (awesome moon and stars at night!), and a fully-equipped laundry room with Indian marble flooring and tiger maple cabinets. Float up to the third floor, where you'll find the Great Room with vaulted ceilings, high-end 6.1 DVD home theater system with digital cable, wireless weather station, VHF radio, gas wood stove, wet bar with ice maker and beverage center, custom leather couches, half bath, and spectacular sound, ocean, & lighthouse views through 180 degrees of windows and wrap-around decks. Chefs will enjoy the professionally equipped kitchen with 2 Jenn-Air cook tops and ovens, 2 dishwashers, pantry, and custom tiger maple floors & cabinets. Feast on the catch of the day in the adjacent Dining Area with seating for 10 at the massive tiger maple dinner table and additional seating for 4 at the island. Between the kitchen and Great Room, guests can surf the net while sitting at a customized early-American work table with Dell 3.4 GHz PC, complete with high speed wireless cable internet and wireless HP color printer/fax/copier/scanner. Want more? Cruise through the third floor breezeway to SUSHI's 4-level tuna tower! The first three floors of the tower are secluded master suites with private baths and soundfront/oceanview decks. The fourth floor of the tower is the Game Room with custom tiger maple pool table and real shark teeth inlays, plasma TV with satellite and cable, 5.1 DVD home theater system, over 30 feet of built-in seating along the walls, half bath, and 360 degrees of deck overlooking the sound, sea, and lighthouse. The Game Room is a cool place to watch the Super Bowl or World Series while hanging out with friends and family! On the ground level, SUSHI welcomes and entertains guests with a crushed seashell driveway that first passes by a set of horseshoe pits and custom Ironwood dartboard, which are great for outside happy hour tournaments or occupying competitive siblings. The driveway continues through a stand of live oaks and leads to 2 elevated concrete carports, each with hoses for washing the sand and salt off your vehicles. Between the carports is a tool room with an air compressor and 100' hose to pump up your 4x4 tires after a day on the beach. There is parking for 6 vehicles and a turn-around area so you don't have to back out of the driveway. To the right of the driveway, just a few steps from the house, are a stainless charcoal BBQ and a private heated pool. The pool is surrounded by mature live oaks and a privacy wall for quiet swims and golden tans. Walk under SUSHI towards the sound and you'll find another queen bedroom, windsurfer and kite storage racks, 6 beach cruiser bikes, another 2-person hammock tucked under the shade of a live oak, and 2 enclosed outside hot showers with benches to relax on during your morning or evening shower. The outside showers offer great views of the sunrise and sunset over their shoulder-height walls. A few more steps take you out onto a soundfront dock with flush-mounted rod holders and room for two 20 foot shallow-draft boats, a windsurfer & kite launching area with non-skid steps built into the dock for easy water entry and exit, a canoe and kayak rack off to the side of the dock with complimentary canoe and 2 kayaks, a canoe and a 6-foot stainless fish cleaning table. The dock and surrounding waters offer good fishing, crabbing, clamming & scalloping at certain times of the year, including gigging for flounder at night with spot lights - try it! Special attention has also been paid to SUSHI's basic utilities, such as 4 central A/C units to assure comfortable summer days and nights, ceiling fans and screens for those cooler, ocean breezy days and nights, a propane-powered wood stove for cozy winter nights in the Great Room, and 2 tankless, on-demand propane water heaters to assure uninterrupted hot showers and baths for everyone, regardless of how many people take simultaneous or back-to-back showers or baths.
